TOP PHOTO 005 | Loch An Eilein Overview |
The second half of last September I made a photo-trip to Scotland with two friends. During the two weeks of the visit the weather was photographically fine with a lot of variation. Most of the time we spent near the coast, but this particular photo was made in the inland, close to Aviemore. Our lodging address was a bed-and-breakfast in the nice village of Carrbridge. When we woke up in the morning the sky was clear and the light was hard, so we decided for a full breakfast, taking our time. The first goal that day would be Loch An Eilein, a small lake with a castle ruin. A well laid out track of a couple of miles runs around the lake. On our way to Aviemore suddenly fog started appearing. It set our hearts beating faster… On arrival we had to act quickly. The fog threatened to lift, changing into low-hanging clouds, what happened as a matter of fact later on. However, the first hour was excellent, as can be seen in this photograph. To me, the image breathes a spirit of a Japanese garden at Zen Buddhist monastery. The fascinating aspect is the interference between the four stones and the reflection of the mountains on the opposite lake side.
