TOP PHOTO 003 | Cornflowers and Poppies Overview |
It was an early morning the beginning of June. Driving through the mid-Spanish interior, we came across a field with cornflowers and some poppies. The sight was not really impressive. It was pretty windy with diffuse backlight. I started making a series of conventional shots, however, without much confidence as the scenery was definitely not spectacular. As a matter of fact, later on, back at home the results turned out to be disappointing indeed.
Therefore after a while I went for a different approach. Using the smallest aperture (45) on my 250 mm, and adding a 2x converter, the resulting combined aperture becomes 90 (!). Of course the images will suffer from diffraction errors, but with medium format fortunately one has some reserves. Adding a polarising filter this resulted a nicely long exposures of some 5 seconds on Velvia 50. With the wind blowing I was hoping for a nicely "moving" impression, and so it turned out to be.
